Q&A with John Bradford: What would have been ideal legislation for coal ash spill? What would have been more adequate for your ideals?

QandAQ: What would have been ideal legislation for coal ash spill? What would have been more adequate for your ideals?

A: I have an Engineering degree and worked as a Senior Environmental Engineer for ExxonMobil Corporation for 4 years immediately after college. We need better dry disposal methods for coal ash to minimize the environmental impact while keeping energy costs low. It is unfortunate that a Democrat led legislature voted to exempt coal ash pond regulatory oversight under the Landfill Bill of 2007. Republican leadership has now established a process for such regulatory oversight. I will work to make sure we have environmentally safe ways to dispose of coal ash while keeping energy costs low for North Carolinians.
