JB_98 Shea and John

I Stand With My Husband, John Bradford

Friends,

Tomorrow is Election Day.  We all need to go to the polls and cast our votes for those we support to lead our state and country.  As a resident of District 98, a wife of 13 years and a mother of four, I am asking you to support my husband, John R. Bradford, III, for NC State House of Representatives, Robert Pittenger for US Congress, and Thom Tillis for US Senate.

These last few days have included negative campaigning against John, Robert, and Thom.  These attacks are desperate, unwarranted, and misleading. There is one thing I would like you to know about my husband, John, when you go to the polls and vote tomorrow: he is a man of honor and integrity who has worked tirelessly to help make the Lake Norman Region a great place to live, work and play. John’s company is a real job creator for our Region by employing and supporting over 45 local families all while serving as a Cornelius Town Commissioner.

His role as an elected official over the last three years has been a family sacrifice and our family is prepared, yet again, to make an even greater sacrifice for him to serve in Raleigh. Since meeting and dating in high school, I have known that John has prepared all his life to serve the people with honor and integrity.  I am so proud of him and I think his time is now.  I need your help to make this a reality.

John is a charismatic person with a lot of passion and energy.  He has used a pro-business, common sense, and logical approach in his role as a Cornelius Town Commissioner.  I can tell you he is the same at home, and I know he will use this same approach in Raleigh. As my husband, my best friend, and father to our four beautiful children, I know that John is a good man who truly cares about our community and will serve us well.

It is my sincere hope that you will to go to the polls tomorrow and send a clear message to those who have used dirty politics, blatant lies, willful misrepresentations and general negative campaign tactics to mislead voters.  There are many issues in our state that require integrity, honor and a conservative pro-business approach to government.  I know voters, like you and me, are much smarter and more informed than those who have attacked John have given us credit for. We need to elect someone who can run a positive campaign on their own merits, not by attacking others.  We need to elect someone who has a demonstrated and proven track record in running a business and serving in government.

I respectfully ask you to take a stand against negative campaigning and dirty politics.  Support a person with honor and integrity.  Please send a strong message that you will not be deceived by these negative campaign antics by casting your vote for my husband, John R. Bradford, III, for the NC State House of Representatives.

Thank you for your support and have a blessed day.

Forever Grateful,

Shea Bradford

A Message from Cornelius Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem, Woody Washam

Fellow District 98 Residents,

By now you have seen the recent attacks by one candidate for the NC House against another. While I do not normally speak up in a primary race, as a Cornelius native and your sitting Mayor Pro Tem, I know it has taken many years to help build the reputation of this wonderful region. We did it together through the hard work of many and have always resolved our differences in a civil manner. The way that John Bradford’s opponent has brought such negativism to this particular campaign is not acceptable.

I support John because I believe he is without question the best and most experienced candidate to represent our district in Raleigh. John has very successfully built a small business right here in Cornelius while serving with distinction as one of our Town Commissioners. He is supported by every Republican Cornelius Commissioner who has served with him. He is supported by our former Mayor in Cornelius and current State Senator Jeff Tarte, U.S. Congressman Robert Pittenger, Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest and a very long list of other public officials and business leaders.

I ask all of you to now support John. We must send a message to all engaging in negative campaigning that there is no place for this in North Mecklenburg and the Lake Norman Region. There is certainly no place for this in our beautiful Town where I have lived my entire life.

We must send a representative to Raleigh who will represent the great way we do things in our community. I ask you to stand up for principled conservative leadership. This is a critical election. Please stand up and vote for John Bradford on May 6th in the Republican Primary. That’s what I will be doing!

Thank you,

Woody Washam
Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem
Town of Cornelius

A Message from Campaign Chairman, Joshua Dobi

Friends,

It certainly has been an exciting week!  Unfortunately, one of our campaign opponents has been attacking John with deceptive and manipulative mailers as well as robo-calls since Thursday.  Just like Kay Hagan is doing to our Speaker, Thom Tillis, our opponent is twisting and manipulating facts in an attempt to paint a picture which is simply false.

However, these attacks do not change the facts:

FACT: Over 18 conservative elected officials and town leaders listed below have supported John Bradford and still stand with him.
U.S. Congressman Robert Pittenger, Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest,  NC Senator Jeff Tarte, Soil and Water Commission Chair Dempsey Miller, Cornelius Mayor Pro-Tem Woody Washam, Cornelius Commissioner Dave Gilroy, Cornelius Commissioner Jim Duke, Former Cornelius Commissioner Jeff Hare, Former Cornelius Commissioner Bruce Trimbur, Former Cornelius Commissioner Jim Bensman, Former Cornelius Mayor Gary Knox, Huntersville Commissioner Danny Phillips, Huntersville Commissioner Rob Kidwell, Former Huntersville Commissioner Brian Sisson, Former Lake Norman Chamber Chairman Wendy Moran, Former Lake Norman Chamber Chairman Robert Reed, Former Lake Norman Chamber Chairman John Hettwer, and Former Mecklenburg County Republican Party Chair Lee Teague

FACT: John Bradford’s campaign has gained more support from many more individuals than his opponents.
As you may have seen, John has taken a strong financial lead in the NC House District 98 Republican primary. On Monday, our campaign filed our first fundraising report of 2014 with the Board of Elections showing that John has accumulated a total of $230,892 for this election cycle through April 19th.  His report shows that he received $70,892.00 from 127 donors during this election cycle.  He currently holds $129,788.36 cash on hand for the remainder of the campaign.

This amount raised sets a record for a new candidate which was previously set and held by Speaker Thom Tillis for this seat in 2006. By comparison, Speaker Tillis raised $47,602.75 in the entire year of 2006.

Upon an examination of all the candidates’ reports, John has a significant edge in total financial contributions and total number of individual donors during this election cycle. Lynette Rinker has raised $12,712.54 and Sharon Hudson has raised $853.27 in comparison to Bradford’s $70,892.00.  Rinker received donations from 30 donors and Hudson received donations from 10 donors in comparison to Bradford’s 127 donors.  Rinker shows $21,854.30 cash on hand and Sharon Hudson shows $894.95 cash on hand in comparison to Bradford’s $129,788.36 cash on hand.

FACT: John Bradford is the strong Conservative Pro-Business Choice for District 98
This fact is easily confirmed when you consider he has the endorsement of Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC), a gun rights advocacy group.  The National Rifle Association (NRA) issued Bradford an ‘A’ rating as a new candidate that has yet to establish a voting record.  This is the NRA’s highest rating for a new candidate. John is pro-life and supports traditional marriage. John Bradford is CONSERVATIVE with a strong record to prove it.

In addition, John has a strong and documented history of supporting jobs and being effective in his role as a Cornelius Town Commissioner.  He has been endorsed as the pro-business candidate by the Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (REBIC). His opponent on the other hand has voted to stop business growth which kept jobs from being added in our District 98 region. This is verifiable fact from her voting record – all public information.  It’s not commentary or supposition – it is documented action.

I leave you with a reasonable question: why use personal attacks if your record is strong enough to compete against him?  She must feel that it is not strong enough, which is why she has taken this tact.

Stand UP for conservatives principles on May 6th! Vote Bradford and Tillis on May 6th.

With thanks for your time and commitment —

Joshus Dobi
Campaign Chairman
The John R. Bradford, III, Committee

I stand with John Bradford. A message from Cornelius Commissioner, Jim Duke.

Dear Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about my good friend John Bradford and why he should be elected to our State House for District 98.  No other candidate has the drive, business acumen, and integrity of John Bradford.  I normally don’t write for candidates, but the recent rash of negative ads and robo calls have attempted to distort the facts and besmirch this fine young man.  This negative campaign from a desperate competitor compels me to say something now.  I have worked with John on the Town Board of Commissioners and can attest to the fact that he is the most involved and effective Commissioner I have ever known.

John has run a positive campaign relying upon his credentials and endorsements to send the message to voters that he is the best person for the job.  No other candidate has the wealth of endorsements that John has accumulated.  Every elected official willing to endorse a candidate has stood up for John. Every elected official who has worked with John’s opponent, with John, and with both of them all agree that John is the candidate we all need to support.  These elected officials and community leaders know all of the candidates personally and are steadfast in their belief that John Bradford is singularly the best candidate.

John’s history, record of service, and stand on issues is well publicized.   He is simply without peer in this important race.  He is publicly endorsed by over 18 truly conservative elected officials, organizations, and community leaders. US Congressman Robert Pittenger, NC Lt. Governor Dan Forest, NC Senator Jeff Tarte, The Charlotte Observer, Real Estate & Building Industry Coalition (REBIC), Grass Roots NC (a NC gun rights advocacy group), NRA (received highest rating for a new candidate), and a host of local elected officials all support John because we know he has and will get the job done.

Thank you,

Jim Duke
Cornelius Commissioner

Setting the Record Straight

Dear Friends,

Yesterday and today, many of you have likely received a bombardment of false campaign mail and robo-calls from one of my opponents.  In some cases, many of you have reported to receiving up to ten pieces of mail and four robo-calls.  In her negative messaging, I am personally attacked, along with my record, and my service to our community. Negative campaign tactics are an unfortunate side to politics, and some candidates believe that these false attacks are necessary. From these actions it is clear that this opponent, specifically, knows our campaign is ahead and theirs is behind. While my campaign continues to take the high road and will continue to do so, I find it only appropriate to address the false claims made in an unwieldy attempt to smear my good name and reputation.

Simply put, the negative claims against my campaign are categorically false and misleading.  The facts and figures have been manipulated by my opponent in a desperate attempt to deter me from being successful on May 6th.  Below are the false claims along with responses and real facts.

  1. PLEDGING TO REDUCE THE PERSONAL AND CORPORATE INCOME TAX TO ZERO:  My opponent is claiming that I do not support this position.
    1. THIS IS A LIE. Please read the article from the Lake Norman Citizen, published last week, in which I state very clearly in the “Platform” question that I support reducing the personal and corporate income tax to zero.   http://www.lakenormancitizen.com/news/news/item/6260-decision-2014-meet-the-local-candidates.html
  1. MEETING ATTENDANCE:  My opponent is claiming that I have “missed” a majority of the required PARC Department meetings during my years of service saying I have been “AWOL” and not doing my job.
    1. THIS IS A LIE.  The statement below is from former PARC Commission Chairperson, Bruce Trimbur, which corrects the record.

“I served as a PARC Commissioner from May, 2007 to January, 2013. The last two years of my service I was the PARC Commissioner Chairperson. John Bradford served as a PARC Commissioner in August, 2011 to December, 2011 before being elected to the Town Board.  After winning his election in November, 2011 he converted from a PARC Commissioner to a PARC Liaison.  This Liaison role was a channel for communication between the PARC Department and the Town Board.  As the assigned PARC Liaison attendance to our meetings were not mandatory or even required.  The recent public claim that he “missed” meetings is very misleading. John always stayed in touch with me, the PARC Department’s staff, our agenda’s programs, upcoming events and programming all while communicating our department updates at the Town Board meetings. He served our town very well as the PARC Liaison. John helped in many ways for the betterment of our PARC Department, as both a short term PARC Commissioner and then as the PARC Liaison.  I never felt John was “AWOL” from his appointment whatsoever. I am very proud to endorse and “count on” John Bradford for the NC House District 98.”  – Bruce Trimbur

  1. TAX REVALUTAION LEADERSHIP:  My opponent is claiming she led the fight against the flawed Mecklenburg County tax revaluation of 2011.
    1. THIS IS A LIE.  Her claims of taking credit have been publicly called out on Facebook by retired Cornelius Commissioner Jim Bensman, who was one of the integral leaders of this effort.  In his statement below, Jim Bensman states that it was me, not my opponent, who played a large role in ensuring our success. My opponent, once again, is lying to the voters.

“Today I received a Lynette Rinker flyer here in Colorado. In that flyer Lynette claimed a leadership role in the effort to overturn the 2011 Revaluation. That is, I’m sorry, a lie. This was an effort led by a team of 5 dedicated individuals supported by hundreds across the County. Her role was minimal and only part of actions, limited as they were, by the Cornelius Town Board. The Commissioners who actually did the most as individuals to help the cause were Jeff Hare and John Bradford, Yes, I don’t live in Cornelius anymore, but the truth is important and it is improper to blatantly mislead the voters on something like this.” – Retired Cornelius Town Commissioner, Jim Bensman

In summary, the actions of my opponent are desperate and serve as a last ditch effort to win an election my opponent apparently believes she cannot win on her own merit.  This is made even more clear by the fact that my opponent has zero elected officials and leaders endorsing her. In fact, every Republican Cornelius Town Commissioner who has served with my opponent alone, served with both of us, and served with me alone has publicly endorsed me.  My opponent has voted consistently against our local business to kill jobs including a $4M business expansion that was to create 55 new jobs with a $75,000 average salary.

This campaign is a preview of how my opponent will serve us in Raleigh, if elected. These types of manipulative, deceptive, and deceitful campaign tactics are deplorable and have no business in District 98.  Thank you for your time. I hope you will help uphold the integrity, honor, and respect of this Office by voting for John Bradford on May 6th. Please help us get this message out by forwarding to as many of your friends as you can.
Warmest Regards,

John R. Bradford, III
